Upgrade Your Wardrobe Without Spending a Dime

Buying new clothes doesn’t need to cost anything if you clean out your closet first! Gather up any items that no longer fit, don’t match your new style or anything you simply don’t wear.

Go through all of your belongings and make room for your new wardrobe!

Sell Your Items

There are so many stores that buy used clothing and they pay a pretty good price for them! You can walk right in, sell your items and then shop with the money you just made.

Brick and mortar stores such as Plato’s Closet and Buffalo Exchange will buy your used clothing on the spot. They won’t buy everything but they will buy pretty much anything that is very good condition.

If you want to make even more money from your clothing, try selling it online. There are a ton of online sites where you can list your items and sell them.

Let’s look at the best places to sell items online.

Poshmark

This is by far my favorite place to sell clothing. They’ve done a great job of making it very convenient to sell your apparel, shoes, and accessories. You can set up a free account and start posting in minutes.

The best thing about Poshmark is that the payment goes through them and they’ll even send you a shipping label, paid for by purchases made, to mail your item as soon as it sells.

All you must do is print the label and send the item on its way!

Mercari

The Mercari app makes it easy and intuitive to resell your clothing online. Like Poshmark, just snap a photo and start selling. Mercari takes 10% of the sale.

ThreadUp

ThreadUp operates a little differently and is a great way to get rid of all of your items immediately. You can send all of your items to them and they’ll take care of the rest. They will even send you a free kit to get started, which includes a bag to ship your items to them.

Although you won’t know the exact amount of money they’ll pay for your items, they do have a payout estimator right on their site where you can get a pretty good idea of how much you’ll get in return.

Once you have made room for your new wardrobe by selling your unwanted items, you can shop at these same places to save even more!
